Beru reports double digit growth in H1
Ludwigsburg, Germany - Beru AG (a manufacturer of tyre pressure monitoring systems) increased its total sales revenues in the six months to 30 June by 10.4 percent to Euro 223.0 million, compared with Euro 202.0 million a year earlier. During the same period, operating profit (EBIT) increased by 23.2 percent to Euro 30.9 million from Euro 25.1 million in the previous first half. The company, which floated on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange at the end of February 2006, generated a group net profit of Euro 20.6 million, up from Euro 8.6 million in the first half of 2005.
In a statement, Beru said, "In Electronics and Sensor Technology, successful product launches and higher equipping rates led to particularly strong revenue growth of 34.5 percent to Euro 66.3 million (from Euro 49.3 million). This was the first time that this division generated higher sales revenues than Ignition Technology. The key growth driver was the series ramp-up for two European premium manufacturers with tire-pressure monitoring systems. As had been expected, first-half sales revenues from the Tire Safety System (TSS) increased at an above-average rate of 76 percent to EUR 19.0 million.
