Michelin may expand China tyre plant
SHENYANG, China (June 15)--Groupe Michelin has bought nearly 39 acres of land adjacent to its Shenyang tire plant to allow for future growth.
The company denied, however, published reports in China that it already has committed $170 million to expand truck tire capacity at the plant, which operates as Michelin Shen Yang Tire Co.
The plant, which Michelin took over from Shanghai Tyre & Rubber Co. in 1996, has listed capacity of 1 million car, light truck and medium truck tires a year. The plant is located in the Shenyang Economic & Technology Development Zone.
