Tyre industry CEOs cooperate on tyre wear debris
Geneva, Switzerland--Eleven chief executives of tyre companies met in Geneva to discuss common global policy issues faced by the industry in the areas of environmental, health and safety.
According to a statement issued by BLIC, "The companies agreed to address the prioritized industry policy issues of tyre materials and tyre wear particles. They will initiate independent research on these issues by establishing two project teams reporting to the CEOs" This research is aimed to address what happens to the rubber scrubbed off tyres as the tread wears down in normal daily use.
Participating companies in alphabetical order include: Bridgestone Corporation, Continental AG, Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Hankook Tire Company, Kumho Tire Company Inc., Group Michelin, Pirelli & C., Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd., Toyo Tire & Rubber Company Ltd., and Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd.
