Chicago Rawhide contract secured by Chronos
Nottingham, UK-Speciality seals manufacturer Chicago Rawhide-a division of SKF-is upgrading the weighing and mixer feeding systems at its plant in Elgin, Illinois.
Nottingham-based mixing room equipment supplier Chronos Richardson has secured an order for more than $500 000 worth of materials-handling systems for the project.
“We evaluated and ran material trials with the Chronos Clean-Feed system and we were impressed with the weighing accuracies witnessed,†commented SKF Chicago Rawhide's polymer compounding department manager Christopher Kent, in a statement from Chronos.
“Chronos has a great deal of experience in vacuum conveying and not only does their Clean-Feed system meet our immediate requirements, but its flexible design can easily be adapted and reconfigured as raw material and compound requirements change,†Kent added.
Chronos's Clean-Feed weighing systems will handle a range of carbon black and white fillers delivered in sacks and Supasacks. SKF Chicago Rawhide will produce its precision compounds using specially sized vacuum scales for varying batch sizes.
Chicago Rawhide is also using Chronos equipment for high accuracy preparation of small chemicals in both liquid and powdered form.
