Stoke-on-trent, UK--Members of the Transport and General Workers' Union at the Michelin tyre factory in Stoke will be balloted for industrial action in a dispute over pay, the union announced yesterday. "I'm convinced there are opportunities at the Stoke site to negotiate to improve the offer. All it takes is willingness on the part of the company to enter into constructive dialogue," said Rob Taylor, T&G Convenor at the Michelin site in Stoke
The company has offered a 3 percent unconsolidated lump sum, or £650 lump sum, which was rejected in a ballot of members by a majority of 69 percent (on a turnout of 89 percent). A Michelin spokesman said, "we are disappointed the union has made this decision but we are continuing discussions with the unions."
