Kokusai to make tyre-testing equipment in China -- Report
Tokyo--Japanese tyre equipment maker, Kokusai Co. is reportedly transferring production of some tyre test equipment to China. A report in the Nikkei says production is likely to begin this month, and each machine can be made for roughly one third the cost of machine manufacture in Japan.
The Nikkei said, "To this end, Kokusai recently installed new facilities at its subsidiary in Shanghai and added more than 10 manufacturing engineers. The unit aims to sell by the end of this fiscal year 10 or so units of tire-testing machines, which cost a little more than 60 million yen apiece." Kokusai said it currently makes tyre-test equipment in Tokyo and a US subsidiary
