Hainan may expand rubber wood production
Hainan, China--A new economic report suggests Hainan island--centre of China's natural rubber production-- has great potential for rubber wood production. Rubber wood can be used to make furniture and other products, but any tree cut down for rubber wood can no longer be used to produce latex.
Hainan has 380 000 hectares under rubber, compared with 661 000 ha in China as a whole. The report suggests this can produce an annual volume of some 456 000 m3 of rubber wood.
