Bridgestone to build steelcord plant in China
Tokyo--Bridgestone Corp. has announced plans to build a steel cord plant in Shenyang, China. The company intends to invest about $90 million in the plant, which will process about 70 tonnes of imported wire rod each day. The unit will make wire in diameters from 0.1mm to 0.3mm intended for use in truck and bus tyres made at Bridgestone (Shenyang) Tire Co
A Bridgestone spokesman confirmed these details and said the plant is due on stream in Autumn 2005, growing to full production and 260 employees by 2007 and is located in Shenyang, Liaoning Province.
