Bedford, Virginia--SEDO Chemicals Neoprene GmbH has bought a factory, some machinery and other assets from the former RBX Corp., and opened a new company called Rubatex International, LLC. Rubatex employs many of the same people, making the same products with the same equipment and the same rubber formulations as the former RBX company. The plant is in Bedford, Virginia. Sedo makes closed cell rubber products, mostly from chlorprene rubber and is based near Berlin, Germany.

Rubatex hopes to open around 6 October making closed-cell rubber and foam products. Production will begin when raw materials arrive, said Larry Brookshier, plant manager at Rubatex and former RBX employee. Sedo said the acquisition will give the company an opportunity to expand in the North American market.

RBX is bankrupt and closed operations at the factory in April after filing for Chapter 11 protection. The company currently has just six employees and is rapidly winding down al its activities.
