AIAG revises RFID standard for tyres, wheels
Detroit--The Industry Action Group (AIAG) has revised its standard on RFID tags for tyres and wheels, accommodating both retail and automotive industry requirements. The standard, AIAG B-11: "Tire and Wheel Label and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Standard" is the only item-level RFID standard in the world. Manufacturers can now supply tyres with a single RFID tag to meet the needs of customers in the automotive industry and customers in the retail sector.
"AIAG and EPCglobal developed the standard's revision with OEMs and tyre suppliers to allow retail information, such as the manufacturer, product and serial number, to be included in the RFID tag," said a release from the AIAG.
