Trelleborg, Sweden-A Trelleborg spokeswoman has confirmed newspaper reports from Telford, UK, that the firm is planning to close the former DJ Profiles facility at Telford and consolidate all UK manufacture of industrial profiles at its plant at Minworth, near Birmingham.
At the time that Trelleborg bought DJ Profiles from the Epwin Group, late in 2003, the operation employed some 70 people and had a turnover of Euro 6.4 million.
The Trelleborg spokeswoman said some 50 employees will be affected by the planned move to the Trelleborg Industrial Profiles UK plant at Minworth, which is expected to take place gradually over the next 6-8 months.
Trelleborg's decision to close the Telford site has been made to further increase the efficiency of Trelleborg Industrial Profiles UK, said the spokeswoman, who added that negotiations with trade unions are continuing.
The Swedish rubber conglomerate said when it bought the Telford operation that its aim was to strengthen the Trelleborg Industrial Profiles UK business and widen a little the sectors that it served.
