Liveris to become Dow president and CEO

Midland, Michigan- Bill Stavropoulos is passing over his role as chief executive officer of Dow Chemical Co. to Andrew Liveris, the group's current president and chief operating officer, with effect from 1 Nov. Stavropoulos will, however, remain as chairman of Dow, the company has announced.
Liveris, 50, who was elected to his current position in November 2003, also serves on the board of Dow Corning Corp. He was president of Dow's Performance Chemicals business prior to being named president and COO.
