Bridgestone Metalpha adds steelcord capacity in Tennessee
Clarksville, Tennessee-Bridgestone Metalpha is adding capacity to its steelcord plant here. The company said it will increase production by 6000 to 8000 tonnes per year, bringing the total to 58 000 tonnes. Metalpha said the new capacity will be in highly automated equipment, and will come on stream in early 2006.
Metalpha said the company is likely to reach its maximum current capacity of 50 000 tonnes per year during 2004. The $45 million investment will add 35 to the employee count, bringing the total to 385.
