Sime Tyres to increase production by 10 percent
Continental Sime Tyre Sdn Bhd is planning to increase passenger car tyre output this year to 5.5 million units, up from 5 million in 2003. The Star newspaper quotes Continental Sime chief executive Mohd Shukri Baharom saying the increase should increase the company's exports to 40 percent of revenue, up from around 35 percent.
Part of the expansion, said Shukri, would be official sales subsidiaries in Indonesia and Thailand. Shukri was further quoted, saying, “Currently, only 10% of our total exports go to Asean countries while about 30% go to Australia, another 30% to Europe and the balance to the Middle East."
