IRSG reports rubber demand slows in May

London-Worldwide rubber consumption fell in May from April, the first monthly decline in demand since August 2003, according to the International Rubber Study Group.
Global consumption still remains 3.4 percent higher than a year ago, the IRSG said. Among other factors, the organisation cited recent moves by the Chinese government to cool its fast-expanding economy, as well as expectations of higher interest rates in the US, for the change.
