Hong Kong plans 'green' tyre tax
Hong Kong government is discussing a 'green' tax on tyres that would cost around HK$40 per vehicle, according to local press reports. Taxing tyres is one of the options being explored by the government to encourage recycling, Financial Secretary Henry Tang said in his budget speech this month. Hong Kong dumps over 100 000 tonnes of tyres each year, according to the report.
