Bayer price hikes follow HNBR, EPDM 'margins collapse'

Leverkusen, Germany-Bayer MaterialScience has announced price increases for its hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene and EPDM rubber materials, in response to “high cost pressure and major collapse in margins.â€
Prices for Bayer's Therban-branded HNBR went up by Euro1.00/kilogram on 1 Jan, due “to inadequate returns and the ever-increasing upward pressure of costs,†said a 27 Feb group statement
EPDM prices, went up by Euro0.10 /kilogram on 1 Feb, following “a steep increase in the price of raw materials and the associated dramatic collapse in margins in this segment,†added Bayer.
