Mississauga, Ontario-Magnifoam Technology International Inc., a Canadian-based silicone rubber parts maker, has set up a technical team dedicated to winning contracts from Airbus.
Mississauga-based Magnifoam is investing CDN$2 million ($1.54 million) over two years in the team, which is based at its Leewood Elastomer operation in Bremen, Germany. The unit is focused on developing custom-engineered parts for the Airbus A380 and Airbus A340 long-range aircraft in Europe, said a 22 Jan press statement.
During the past eight months, Magnifoam said the Bremen unit has helped secure several new contracts, including the use of its materials in a crew shelter bellows in the A380 and long-range A340. The total value of pending and awarded contracts with Airbus is around Euro60 million, it added.
The team highlights Magnifoam's committment to increasing its presence in the European aerospace sector, according to Bill Neill, Magnifoam's president and chief executive officer, in the company statement.
“During the past year, Leewood has successfully developed its relationship with the European Aeronautics Defense Society (Airbus) to the point where firm contracts have been received and a dedicated technical team is now in place,†added Neill.
