Compounding upgrade for Goodyear Dunlop in the UK
By Liz White, ERJ staff
Nottingham, UK-The Goodyear Dunlop tyres plant at Washington, Tyne and Wear, UK, has installed a new mixer controller and other equipment as part of an upgrade to its rubber compounding operation.
In a retrofit to one of the mixing lines, Nottingham, UK-based supplier of material handling and control equipment Chronos Richardson installed an up-to-date CR3000 control system at Washington this summer. The unit replaces an old system, also supplied by Chronos Richardson in the late 1980s, said a statement from the firm-now owned by Canadian firm Premier Tech.
Also included in the order for over £100 000 ($174 000) of equipment was modernisation of Goodyear Dunlop's small-chemical preparation system. Chronos Richardson replaced the feeders, installed a new weigh hopper and modified the system's automatic bag placing system.
