Cologne, Germany – Lanxess’s Rhein Chemie business unit will be showcasing a number of new materials and products for tire applications during the upcoming Tire Technology Expo (TTE).
In a 14 Feb press release, the German speciality chemicals company said it would present, among others, its environmentally friendly Rhenodiv release agents, Rhenoshape tire vulcanisation bladders as well as new rubber additives.
“The tire industry remains one of our most important markets,” said Dietmar Hoff, head of marketing tire products at Lanxess’s Rhein Chemie, ahead of the show.
According to Hoff, additives for rubber compounds, release agents and tire curing bladders make a “major contribution” to the company’s rubber additives business line.
On display, will be 100% silicone-free products such as Rhenodiv BP-166 and Rhenodiv BP-9500, which according to Lanxess are easier to wash off after vulcanisation due to a new, water-soluble release.
Additionally, Lanxess will present permanently coated bladders which will enable tire manufacturers to vulcanise tires with no additional release agents.
Another new product is Vulkanol TOF, a rubber additive, which according to Lanxess will increase wet-grip performance of tires.
“With ECO or green tire technology, the addition of Vulkanol TOF to a silica-filled compound for tire treads can significantly improve wet-grip performance,” Lanxess added.
TTE takes place in Hanover, Germany on 20-22 Feb.
