MarconiGomma executives acquitted - report
ERJ staff report (DS)
Bologna, Italy - Three and a half years after the fatal explosion of a mixer at MarconiGomma, all the executives involved have been acquitted, according to newspaper reports from Italy.
On 17 November 2008 two men died in the explosion, which followed trials on a new compound at the specialist rubber compounder. Chief compound development engineer Fabio Costanzi and an Indian worker Ramjas Yadav died, while four others were also injured.
A report in the newspaper il Resto Del Carlino said the judge ruled that there was no causal link between the new compound and the explosion which caused the deaths. He therefore acquitted all accused of any responsibility.
