Xiameter adds liquid silicones to offering
ERJ staff report (DS)
Cyberspace - Dow Corning's web-based Xiameter brand has added RBL-9200 Liquid Silicone Rubber, a series of low-viscosity products to its product offering. Xiameter said the new grade can flow at lower pressures into intricate tool cavities and may reduce the need for processing adjustments at the molding machine.
Possible applications for the new LSR grades, said Xiameter, include electrical insulation, keypads, grommets, gaskets and seals. Because it is suitable for food contact, it can also be used for spatulas and pot holders, as well as potentially an alternative to latex in baby-bottle nipples and pacifiers (extractable testing pending).
