Indian radio to broadcast series on rubber producers

Kottayam, India - All India Radio has started a 22-episode series on the activities of companies jointly promoted by the Rubber Board and Rubber Producers' Societies (RPS). The programme is scheduled on all Sundays from 09 October at 6.50 pm (local time) in the Farm & Home (Vayalum Veedum) programme of AIR. The various activities of the Board's companies are documented in these episodes.
Smallholdings represent more than eighty per cent of the rubber plantations. The Rubber Producers' Societies were promoted by the Board with a view to empowering these village level organisations. This special broadcast marks the silver jubilee year of the formation of RPSs.
The major activities of the companies are processing and marketing of rubber and rubber wood, production and distribution of quality planting materials and distribution of agricultural inputs.
