Smithers Rapra appoints REACH expert

Sropshire, UK -- Smithers Rapra has appointed REACH expert Dr Steffen Erler as Technical Director of REACH Regulations, with primary responsibility to be the technical lead for the company's REACH activities.

Dr Erler, who gained the first PhD on REACH, has been involved with REACH for almost a decade and is one of the leading global authorities on the subject. He will manage and co-ordinate all of the company's REACH activities which includes the provision of technical support - product deformulation, testing and test proposals, exposure assessment; the provision of strategic advice on pre-registration, compliance standards.

Dr Erler is a recognised authority in regulatory and research consultancy concerning REACH. For the past four years, prior to joining Smithers Rapra, he worked as a researcher and consultant for companies, investors and regulators preparing for REACH. As a Stakeholder Expert, he has been involved in drafting and designing parts of the REACH Implementation Projects. Prior to that he worked for the OECD and the European Commission where he was involved with regulatory affairs concerning REACH.

Dr Erler holds a BSc in Chemistry, an MSc in Biochemical Engineering and a PhD in Chemical Risk Management on REACH from the University of Surrey.
