Sinorgchem lowers antioxidant prices; Flexsys settles with Sovereign
Shangha, China -- Chinese chemical company Sinorgchem Co. said it
has reduced the European market price for the rubber antioxidant 6PPD
to under $3000 per tonne.
Sinorgchem said it cut prices on rubber
antidegradants worldwide through production efficiencies, cost control
and advantages it claims to have over its competitors in proprietary
technology and trade secrets.
The company is appealing in federal
appeals court the International Trade Commission ruling last July
barring the company from selling 6PPD and its feedstock 4-ADPA in the
US, on the grounds that it is violating the patents of Flexsys
America L.P. The appeals brief is due to Federal Circuit appeals court
in late December, said Manni Li, a Washington attorney representing
Sinorgchem.
Meanwhile, Flexsys is continuing its $20
million patent infringement case in Cleveland federal district court
against Sinorgchem, Kumho Tire USA Inc., Kumho Tire Co. Inc. and Kumho
Korea Petrochemical Co. Ltd.
The firm said it has settled with another defendant, Sovereign Chemical Co. The terms of the settlement weren´t disclosed.
