Yokohama Rubber merges hose company, fittings unit
Tokyo--Yokohama Rubber is to merge its hose-making operations with its hose-fittings unit, Yokohama Hydex, from 1 October. Previously, Yokohama made the hoses and supplied them to Hydex, which made the fittings and assembled them ready for sale.
From 1 October, Yokohama will create a new hoses and couplings division which will include a sales unit and the two plants at Ibaraki Plant, and Hiratsuka East Plant, Nagano. Yokohama Hydex recorded 2003 sales of 21,500 million yen (€157 million).
