Carlos Bernabé, managing director of Continental Tires Timisoara

Timisoara, Romania – Continental Corp. has appointed Carlos Bernabé as general manager of its tire factory in Timisoara, which it describes as “one of the most modern and strategic” production units of the company.

Bernabé has been with Conti for the past 40 years and has extensive knowledge in tire production and global markets, said the German tire and automotive supplier in a statement 13 Feb.

The company veteran holds a mechanical engineering degree and a masters degree in quality management.

Prior to this position, Bernabé served as general manager of Conti’s tire factory in Alor Setar, Malaysia, for three years. Before that, he was the production manager at Timisoara.

He has also worked at Continental China in Shanghai, where he led the company’s production and quality management for the Asia-Pacific region for four years.

In addition, he has held various management positions in countries such as Portugal, Brazil, India and France, Conti said.

Launched in 1998, the Timișoara plant has produced over 240 million passenger car and light truck tires to date, according to Conti.
