Mansfield, Georgia – Beaver Manufacturing Co. (BMC), a US supplier of fibre reinforcement for hoses and other industrial applications has acquired Germany-based Intercord Thüringen GmbH in a bid to expand global footprint.
The acquisition, announced 8 Oct, will enable BMC to add resorcinol formaldehyde latex (RFL) treating technology to its product line.
With a manufacturing facility in Mühlhausen Thüringen, Germany, the purchase will increase the total of BMC’s production sites to three globally, along with existing plants in the US and Mexico.
“By acquiring Intercord, we are making a significant expansion into the European market, and at the same time, entering the tire and belt industry,” said Michael Dubin, SVP & chief operating officer, Beaver Manufacturing.
According Dubin, the plant in Germany will continue to produce RFL treated yarns and cords, as well as BMC’s hose products that incorporate its proprietary Beaverloc treatments.
Established over 20 years ago, Intercord manufactures cords for tires, hoses and transmission belts in the automotive and industrial industries.
Post acquisition, Intercord’s Ramazan Yasbay will continue to serve as managing director of the German facility.
“Adding their [BMC] technology and product line to ours will increase the level of innovation in this industry throughout Europe and the Americas,” Yasbay said.
