Brussels – Bridgestone is introducing temporary closures or reducing production at plants across its European manufacturing network due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the company has announced.
The Béthune plant in France and the Bari plant in Italy will be closed until 6 April, said a 23 March statement from the tire maker.
The company manufactures passenger car tires at the French and Italian sites, which have a daily capacity to produce 19,000 units and 21,000 units respectively.
Meanwhile, Bridgestone’s Bilbao, Puente San Miguel and Burgos plants in Spain, Lanklaar plant in Belgium, Stargard and Poznan plants in Poland, and Tatabanya plant in Hungary will run at reduced production levels.
The changes, it said, are being made to align Bridgestone’s supply with predicted demand in the current market.
The company added that its distribution centres, plant warehouses and logistics teams will continue to fill orders.
