Shah Alam, Malaysia – Top Glove Corp. Bhd has extended a movement restriction period for its factory workers in Meru, Klang, as Covid-19 cases continue to rise in the region.
In an update 30 Nov, the Malaysian group said it would now observe an “enhanced movement control order” on its hostels until 14 Dec, two weeks more than originally announced in mid-November.
"Top Glove will extend its fullest cooperation to the relevant authorities towards flattening the curve," the statement added.
According to Top Glove, all Meru factory employees are undergoing a Covid-19 mass screening exercise, while sanitisation of the factories is being carried out.
Since 18 Nov, Top Glove has temporarily stopped production at its rubber gloves manufacturing facilities in Meru, Klang, to allow health authorities to carry out Covid screenings at the sites.
As of 23 Nov, 16 facilities in the region stopped production while 12 factories have been operating at "much reduced capacities."
Top Gloves 30 Nov release did not include an update on production operations across the facilities.
