Pawtucket, Rhode Island – Materials supplier Teknor Apex Co. is spending more than $7 million (€6 million) to expand production capacity and add 20 jobs at its manufacturing site in Brownsville, Tennessee.
The expansion project will include new machinery, according to an 7 Oct news release from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD).
The $7.4 million project also will expand the scope of products being made in Brownsville, where Teknor currently manufactures garden hoses and thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds among other products.
The site currently now employs 620 people.
"It is important for Teknor Apex to support the communities in which we operate," Paul Burke, global operations senior vice president, said in the release.
"With the addition of resources, we will not only be able to better support our customers, but it also allows us to open up more career opportunities in the community."
Pawtucket-based Teknor is a manufacturer of compounds based on flexible and rigid PVC, thermoplastic elastomers and polyamides. It also makes colour concentrates, speciality chemicals and garden hoses.
The company operates 13 plants worldwide in the US, Belgium, Germany, China and Singapore and has annual sales of more than $1 billion.
