Houston, Texas – Orion Engineered Carbons SA has introduced a new packaging system with soluble and meltable minibags for dust free and sustainable handling of carbon black materials.

In a 1 July statement, the carbon black maker said it had developed the minibags as a “customised packaging solution” for its products while helping reduce waste and dust.

Available for different material types, the minibags have various melting points and capacities of between 100 g and 10kg.

The new packaging can be used both for powder and beaded carbon blacks and aims to reduce handling challenges associated with the “dusty and fluffy substance.”

“Minibags mitigate these challenges by allowing for direct incorporation into the production process without the need for opening the bags,” said Orion.

Depending on the material, the bags can either be watersoluble or meltable in polymers.

All common polyethylene and other compatible elastomer bases as well as ethylene vinyl acetate or polyvinyl alcohol are offered as minibag-material, Orion said.

The bags are produced in Germany and customers can order them as they please.
