London – The Rubber in Engineering Group (RIEG) of the IoM3 is to run a webinar 19 March on the topic of 'elastomer use in sustainable energy generation'.
Led by Dr Julien Ramier and Alan Bickley, the afternoon technical discussion meeting (ATDM) will examine the technical challenges posed by low-carbon energy generation for elastomers.
Presentations will include:
• Dr Ashley Johnson, Schlumberger Cambridge Research - Geothermal Energy - Why do we need it? How do we get it?
• Prof Christopher Bowen, University of Bath - Elastomeric materials for energy and harvesting applications
• Tom McKay, TTI Ltd - Inflatable elastomer membrane structures for wave energy devices
• Shing Hon Wong, James Walker & Co Ltd - Walkersele X-Gen: Seal Developments For Offshore Wind Energy
The free RIEG event is part of an ARTIS-sponsored programme, which will next feature a webinar on Elastomers in Infrastructure.
This event, on 18 June, will focus on the use of elastomers in the public and private infrastructure and will aim to capture new materials, processes and applications utilising elastomers in this field.
