Izmit, Turkey— Kordsa Teknik Testil AS has improved its score on the 2019 sustainability report card issued by CDP (former Carbon Disclosure Project).
The subsidiary of Sabanci Holding raised its grade from a C- to a B with its efforts to produce lighter and more durable tire and composite materials using less energy and materials, the company announced 29 Jan.
CDP is an international non-profit organisation which circulates information on environmental issues.
The organisation’s mission is to help companies and governments to reduce hothouse gas emissions and protect water resources and forests.
CDP ratings are based on the effectiveness of a company’s efforts to cut emissions, reduce climate risks and develop ‘the low-carbon economy’.
Kordsa said it was recognised for increased recycling efforts and environmental investments.
Founded in 1973, Izmit-based Kordsa offers tire and construction reinforcement and composites technologies.
According to Kordsa, the company’s reinforcement materials are used in one out of every three car tires, and two out of every three aircraft tires in the world.
The company says it supplies to customers such as Bridgestone, Michelin, Continental, Goodyear, and Pirelli.
