Tay Ninh, Vietnam – Chinese tire maker Jinyu broke ground on its new truck and bus tire plant in Vietnam on 18 June.
The company held a small ceremony with local officials, suppliers, clients and the project’s contractor on account of the coronavirus outbreak.
The project is located at the Phuoc Dong Industrial Park in Tay Ninh province, adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, and will be able to produce 2 million unit tires annually, said Jinyu.
This will be the fourth Vietnam site set up by Chinese tire makers, following Sailun, Guizhou Tyre and ACTR, a joint venture between Sailun and Cooper.
The plant’s full manufacturing process will be connected and digitalised to raise the level of automation, streamline operation as well as facilitate decision-making, said Jinyu.
The company currently has 3.4 million unit annual capacity for truck and bus tires at its plant in Dongying, Shandong province.
