Junction City, Kansas – Camso Inc. has opened a factory in Junction City dedicated to manufacturing agricultural tracks, increasing the Michelin Group subsidiary’s manufacturing footprint in North America to seven facilities and strengthening its presence in the agricultural market.

Camso invested $36.4 million (€30.7 million) to convert an existing 140,000-sq.-ft. structure into the new plant, which will employ over 50.

“The addition of this new facility will contribute to meet the growing demand of tracks and track systems in the agriculture industry and our commitment to be the best partner for our customers,” Christopher Uher, Junction City plant manager, said.

Junction City is considered a strategic location for Camso due to its proximity to an existing Camso plant in nearby Emporia, Kansas.

"This facility will allow for a strong collaboration between the two plants to produce and deliver quality products to our customers," he added.

The new facility will be ISO 9001-certified, the company said.

The state of Kansas and Junction City supported the project with infrastructure upgrades.Junction City is city of about 24,000 in east-central Kansas 65 miles west of Topeka.

Camso announced the project in June 2018.

Camso manufactures and distributes off-road tires, wheels, rubber tracks and undercarriage systems to serve the materials-handling, construction, agricultural and powersports industries. Michelin acquired the Magog, Quebec-based business in December 2018.
