Brussels – Bridgestone Corp. is to launch a new flagship ultra-high performance tire which it says offers “high-end sports performance,” enabling drivers to ‘unlock’ their vehicle’s potentials.

Available on the market from January 2021, the Bridgestone Potenza Sport was created following a comprehensive market research in Europe and is claimed to offer “best-in-class performance” in the dry supported by a “premium wet package”.

Custome-developed versions of the tire are already fitted as OE on Maserati, Lamborghini and BMW, Bridgestone said 15 Dec.

Tested by TÜV SÜD, the tire has outperformed its competitors in the premium segment in dry braking as well as cornering and straight-line stability, Bridgestone added.

The full line-up has also achieved an EU-label A-grade in wet grip.

To achieve the performance, Bridgestone said it had applied various new technologies in tread pattern, compound and construction.

The tire’s tread design includes 3D sipes to increase shear stiffness, with benefits in braking and abrasion resistance.

The compound uses an optimised formula and “innovative” mixing technology to improve wet and dry performances, according to Bridgestone.

To increase stability at high speed Here, Bridgestone said it used a new “hybrid crown reinforcement” and a sporty carcass package.

The tire maker also used its virtual tire development technology to make the product, saving time, and energy throughout the process.

Developed and manufactured in Europe, Potenza Sport will be available in 96 sizes from 17’’ to 22” to cover a wide range of passenger cars and on-road SUVs in the market.
