Newmarket, Ontario – AirBoss Defence Group, part of the Canadian AirBoss of America Corp., has been awarded a contract, worth up to $576 million (€484 million), by the US department of health and human services for the supply of nitrile examination gloves.
The supplier of protective systems has been authorised to proceed immediately with the supply of an initial order, worth up to $288 million, ADG announced 16 March.
The contract also stipulates an equivalent follow-on option which the health department may exercise later in 2021 for an additional $288 million.
ADG said the award builds upon its successful history of providing critical medical equipment and supplies to the US federal government “on time and on budget”.
Over the past year, the company said it had delivered an aggregate of 150,000 of its powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) systems, more than 3.6 million PAPR filters, and related accessories including spare protective hoods to various US agencies.
According to ADG, nitrile rubber gloves are in “continuous demand” by many agencies within the federal government.
The gloves to be provided by ADG are for nonsurgical purposes, for use in hospitals and other health care settings.
