Qingdao, Shandong – China’s e-commerce giant JD.com launched its first own label tires on 27 March.
Such tires are manufactured by Doublestar and sold under Jauto, JD.com’s auto aftermarket brand launched earlier this year.
The brand also covers auto parts and tools, batteries, lubricants and maintenance services.
Jauto tires currently provides more than 130 specifications for light truck tires, off-road/SUV tires and 13-22 inch passenger car tires.
The tires feature a number of Doublestar technologies such as nano self-healing and bullet proof material, JD.com said in a statement.
The two parties will also join forces in research and development, manufacturing and services, using JD.com’s lead in logistics and big data and Doublestar’s know-how such as in tire customisation.
The move is a disruptive market innovation on Doublestar’s path to a top international brand, said the company’s vice general manager Su Ming.
The big yet agile partnership, he went on to say, is like "a dancing elephant,” offering "an exemplary practice" in the tire industry’s transformation.
