Akron, Ohio – Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) and Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. plan to increase replacement market prices 1 Oct on passenger and light truck tires sold in the US.
Bridgestone said the increases will be up to 3.5%, varying by product line.
Cooper said its increase would be up to 4% on all Cooper-produced passenger and light truck tire brands.
Bridgestone cited increased business costs and other market dynamics as reasons for the increase, the company's first publicly announced change since February 2017, when prices were raised by up to 8%.
Bridgestone recently disclosed a price increase of up to 4% on "select" Firestone-brand agriculture tires sold in the U.S. and Canada, also effective 1 Oct.
The company raised prices in July 2017 in North America on its range of commercial truck/bus and OTR tires by up to 8%.
Cooper did not comment on its reasons for raising prices.
