West Point, Mississippi – Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Mississippi LLC has terminated 29 employees because they did not meet "pre-employment requirements."
Yokohama declined to expound on the reasons for the firings beyond its prepared statement, which added that the firm is actively investigating the situation and has created new measures to prevent this from occurring in the future.
"People are our most important asset at YTMM," YTMM President Osamu Zushi said in a statement. "We're extremely proud of our local work force and won't let this unfortunate situation take anything away from the great work they provide."
The plant produces commercial truck tires, employs 665 and opened in 2015.
