Trelleborg, Sweden – Trelleborg Wheel Systems business has acquired the New Zealand-based tire distributor TRS Tyre & Wheel Ltd, owned by Bapcor Group, it was announced 3 July.

TRS Tyre & Wheel is a distributor of tires for agricultural, material handling and construction vehicles in New Zealand and specialises in tires and complete wheels for tire and tractor dealers.

Based in Wanganui, New Zealand, the company has operations in four other locations within the country with annual sales of SEK160 million (€15.3 million).

The move is part of Trelleborg’s strategy to expand in attractive markets and will give the company local presence in New Zealand.

“This acquisition provides us with an excellent opportunity to enhance our sales of tires for agricultural, material handling and construction vehicles, as well as complete wheels in an attractive and growing market,” said Paolo Pompei, president of the Trelleborg Wheel Systems business area.

The transaction will be consolidated as of 1 July.
