Maastricht, The Netherlands – Arlanxeo is increasing prices for its solution styrene butadiene rubber Buna and brominated rubber X_Butyl products globally effective 1 May, the company announced 26 April.
The price increase, said the rubber manufacturer, is driven by “the overall market situation”, but did not explain further.
The company said it had already contacted its customers individually regarding the price increases.
Rubber products distributed under the brand names Buna and X_Butyl are used in the tire industry and for several non-tire applications such as medical and pharmaceutical, plastic modification, gum or technical rubber goods.
The Buna SL product group contains low vinyl butadiene-styrene copolymers, produced by solution polymerisation using an alkyl-lithium catalyst.
Brominated X_Butyl is produced in a continuous process by reacting Butyl Rubber with bromine.
