Conditional approval granted to Evonik’s acquisition of Huber Silica

Brussels – The European Commission has conditionally approved Evonik’s acquisition of US-based Huber Silica under the EU Merger Regulation.

The commission announced 22 June that the approval was conditional on the divestment of some of both companies’ activities related to precipitated silica, a chemical used in tires, toothpaste, defoamers, paints and coatings.
