European car sales fall 7% on VW, UK slump

Brussels – Passenger car registrations fell 6.8% in Europe in April as the shift of Easter from March reduced buyers’ time for shopping, while vehicle sales in the UK were hit by tax changes.

With at least two fewer selling days compared with a year ago, industrywide registrations dropped to 1.23 million vehicles in the EU and EFTA markets last month, industry association ACEA said on Tuesday.
