Amal, Sweden – Elasto Sweden, part of the Hexpol TPE, has added a new medical line and expanded the technical centre at its facility in Amal.
The new line will be part of Elasto Sweden’s focus on medical TPE and supports the sales growth of the Mediprene TPE compounds for medical applications.
Mediprene TPE is claimed to offer advantages in medical device applications; being sterilisable with gamma, EtO and steam.
Applications include medical tubing, IV systems, catheters, respiratory equipment, syringe plunger seals and wound care products.
As part of the investment, Elasto has also expanded the technical resources at its Swedish facility.
According to Klas Dannas, global R&D coordinator for Hexpol TPE, the tech centre will allow for further advanced polymer testing and has analysis equipment for development of “progressive” TPE compounds.
“We have added to our technical centre in Sweden with the installation of a new pilot line and further investments in analytical equipment such as FTIR, DSC and TGA machines,” he added.
