Burton upon Trent, UK – During this year’s Formula One World Championship season, drivers get through 83 sets of the hard tires, 378 of the medium, 463 sets of the soft, and 177 sets of the supersoft tires, Pirelli has estimated.
These figures, added the tire maker, are just for tires used in practice, qualifying and races, and do not take into account the intermediate and wet tires that were used as well.
Formula One tires are made at a dedicated facility in Turkey, and also all pass through Pirelli's engineering and logistics hub in the UK town of Didcot, Oxfordshire for sorting and distribution prior to each race.
Next year's F1 tires will be evolutions of the current versions, noted Pirelli, adding that the cars expected to be significantly faster in 2015.
