Continental opens solar power station project at China plant
Hanover, Germany – The international tire manufacturer Continental has inaugurated a solar photovoltaic power station project at its tire plant in Hefei, China.
In a report on 12 Nov, the company announced that the energy saving project was started by Continental in cooperation with HeFei SuMeiDa Sungrow Power Co., Ltd to generate solar photovoltaic power by leveraging the roofs of the tire plant in Hefei.
“The solar power station will provide part of the electricity needed for the Hefei tire manufacturing operations in the future. On the roof of the Hefei plant, an area of around 70,000 m2 which equals 10 standard football fields is available for the installation of photovoltaic panels. With the 6.1MW installation capacity of the photovoltaic power station, the Hefei plant can reduce its carbon dioxide emissions up to 6,082 ton per year, contributing to reduction of greenhouse gas emission,” said the report.
