Showa Denko to raise chloroprene rubber price in overseas markets
ERJ staff report (BC)
Tokyo –Showa Denko will increase its chloroprene rubber price in markets outside Japan with effect from shipments on 15 December 2013.
The price will be increased by more than $270/tonne for US-dollar-based transactions ($350/tonne for the Asian market) or by more than €200/tonne for euro-based transactions. The rate of increase may differ between areas and will be subject to the terms of applicable contracts.
At present, the chloroprene rubber price does not fully reflect the increases in raw material costs, according to Showa Denko, which has concluded that it has no alternative but to ask its customers to bear a part of the cost increase in order to ensure the stable supply of chloroprene rubber and the continuation of its business.
