Nokian launches CT BAS trailer tire
ERJ staff report (TP)
Nokia, Finland – Nokian Tyres announced its new CT BAS tire, designed for heavy trailers and offering load bearing capability and stability for construction sites.
The press release said: “The rough environment poses considerable challenges for the tire construction and tread structure of heavy trailers. Bits of steel, nails and sharp rocks can cause unexpected delays. Nokian Heavy Tyres brings its top end technology for puncture resistance, which was developed for the forestry tires, to the construction sites.
“[The] tire itself is very robust but at the same time it behaves smoothly in transportation speeds on the road and in uneven terrain. Soft soil can give in under a heavy load and cause delays. The tire has a large footprint which means predictability and good stability while unloading, as well as very good flotation on soft surfaces.”
The company also said the phase shifting block array in the tread pattern helps on minimising the noise, which is very useful when working close to people’s houses.
Nokian Tyres was founded in 1988, but its roots can be traced back to 1898. In 2012, the Finnish company had 4,039 employees and net sales of €1,612.4bn.
